COMSTECH, an organization of 57 OIC Member States on scientific and technological cooperation (www.comstech.org ), headquartered in Islamabad-Pakistan, is organizing an international training and workshop on the subject of “ New Breeding Technologies for Food and Nutritional Security”. These project activities are funded by the COMCEC under the New Breeding Technologies for Food and Nutritional Security (2019- COMSTECH-659) project.
This project envisages building institutional capacity and human resources of 7 OIC member states (Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan and Saudi Arabia and Malaysia) to achieve nutritional food security through the introduction of New breeding Technologies in Agriculture. The project is directly related to the sectoral theme of COMCEC i.e. Ensuring food security and nutrition in the OIC member countries and OIC STI Agenda priority 3B: Safety of water, food, and the environment.
This project comprises two capacity-building events.
1. Training on Genome Editing Vectors & Protocols for Wheat, Rice, and Potato
2. Workshop on a roadmap for commercialization of new breeds and inclusion of elite gene pool for nutritional crops
These capacity-building events will be held at the Culture and Convention Center in Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey from 30th Nov -2nd December 2021. The event will also be available virtually as well through zoom.
Academics, students and researchers from the all member OIC countries are encouraged to apply.
Note: Only 7 member states of OIC (Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia) are eligible for the physical participation and to be considered for funded economy class return ticket and accommodation. Limited funding is available.
There is no registration fee.
Travel & Local Hospitality:
Selected participants from above mentioned member states will be funded for their economy class return air ticket, local hospitality, technical visits, and airport pick-and-drop facility. Funded participants will be accommodated in METU Guesthouse, located on METU Campus at Ankara, Turkey.

Poster Session: Pl. also know that if you’re selected to participate in this event (Physical or virtual), we will be having a poster session on the themes such as Nutrition & Food security , New Breeding Technologies, Conventional approaches of Breeding. Each participant will be given 5 mins to present their work.

Only SinoVac , Sputnik V and BioNTech are approved for the international travellers to Turkey. The second dose of these should have been administered 1 month prior to travelling.
