  • Public policy for innovation, role of government in developing an innovation culture
    in the public and private sector, the example of Turkey, Malaysia and Pakistan

  • Tapping into global technology

  • Innovation processes and innovation systems

  • Educational policies to foster innovation in developing countries

  • Financial instruments to promote innovation

  • Challenges for the design of innovation policies: Lessons from Europe

  • Globalization and innovation policy: Challenges for developing countries 

  • Innovation surveys and measurements of innovation activities 

The course is participatory and is expected to lead to discussions of the techniques being taught to participants’ own national situation. Follow up projects will be designed and carried out by the participants either in their home country or under the supervision of course staff. 

          Teaching Staff   

The course will be conducted by experts from United Nations University- Maastricht Economic and Social Research and Training Centre on Innovation and Technology (UNU-MERIT), Maastricht, Netherlands, and the Science, Technology and Innovation Policy Research Centre at OIC Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH), Islamabad.      

           Course Fee

The registration fee for the participants is 50 US dollars (4,000PKR for local participants), which includes the cost of daily refreshments & course material only. Students can avail 50% discount (25USD/2000PKR). The fee is payable in advance through demand draft/cheque drawn in favor of COMSTECH Secretariat, Islamabad.

Participants who wish to use COMSTECH accommodation are requested to apply at least 4 weeks in advance for reservation of rooms. Single accommodation costs US$100 and shared US$ 50 per night which covers accommodation, breakfast, local telephone calls, internet facility and airport pick and drop. Lunches, dinners, extra refreshments, international telephone calls, and local transport are excluded.         

          Travel Grants

Only a limited number of travel grants are available. The application for travel grants will be considered on merit with preference given to participants working in the areas of Science, Technology and Innovation management, planning or policy research.
