Usman COMSTECH is established by the Third Islamic Summit of OIC held at Makkah, Saudi Arabia in January
1981. Its mission is to help strengthen the individual and collective capacity of OIC member states
in science and technology through mutual cooperation, collaboration, and networking of resources.
COMSTECH General Assembly is composed of the Ministers of Science and Technology of the 57 member states which meets every two years
and approves COMSTECH programs and budget.
So far, it has held 15 sessions. The fifteenth session of the COMSTECH General Assembly was held on May 31 - June 1, 2016 in Islamabad, the federal capital city of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the host country of COMSTECH.
